Ubuntu

Basic Information

The KXStudio Team PPAs support all Ubuntu versions since Lucid (ie. Lucid, Natty, Oneiric and Precise).

There are 8 PPAs, splitted by category:
  1. Main (ppa)
  2. Plugins (plugins)
  3. Music (music)
  4. Kernel (kernel)
  5. KXStudio (kxstudio)
  6. Latest (latest)
  7. Games (games)
  8. JACK1 (jack1) optional

Additionally there is a non-free repository hosted outside Launchpad (for restricted or closed-source applications).
This repository is not managed by the KXStudio Team, but by falkTX only.

Please note a few things about these PPAs:
  - JACK2 is the default JACK version, and it will override JACK1. If you want JACK1, enable the JACK1 PPA and update
  - The 'Music' PPA is empty for now

PPA links are https://launchpad.net/~kxstudio-team/+archive/<short-name> or ppa:kxstudio-team/<short-name>.
The source packages should be the *same* across Ubuntu versions, with very few exceptions.

The Ubuntu Repositories

The Main PPA includes updates, fixes and new packages.
It does not include kernels, drivers, artwork, meta-packages or games (reserved for other PPAs)
This PPA has no external dependencies.

The Plugins PPA includes new, updated or fixed audio plugins.

The Music PPA includes CC|GPL samples, sounds, kits, etc, useful to music production.
This PPA has no external dependencies.

The Kernel PPA includes kernels and drivers.

The Latest PPA includes bleeding-edge packages.

The Games PPA includes games and gaming tools.

The JACK1 PPA forces the installation of JACK1 over the default JACK2 used in KXStudio.

The external, non-free repository contains restricted software that can't be upload to Launchpad (licensing reasons) and closed-source applications/plugins.
